Good Partners Make Strong Communities

Access Language Solutions (ALS) and Kentucky Refugee Ministries (KRM) are natural partners. ALS enhances the mission of KRM by providing much-needed language support for their resettlement services.

ALS has recently deepened this partnership so that Afghani refugees can obtain entry-level interpreter certificates. Through the professional interpreter/translator association and education arm of ALS, Kentucky Interpreter & Translator Association (KITA), multilingual individuals may obtain vital training to become qualified as medical/community interpreters through generous support from The Cralle Foundation.

ALS and KRM have combined grant monies to cover all expenses for The Community Interpreter program, a nationally-recognized course that also serves as a prerequisite for national medical interpreter certification.

Once qualified, interpreters receive a free, one-year membership to KITA, which provides them with ongoing information as they continue to grow in their new profession.

Donations made to Access Language Solutions cover ongoing, necessary language exams.
